Getting a traffic fine in Qatar used to mean a trip to a service centre. Now it’s a two-minute job in the Metrash app — whether you want to check for fines, pay them, or see how many black points you’ve accumulated.
Checking your fines
- Open the Metrash app and log in with your QID and PIN.
- Go to the Traffic Services section.
- Select fine inquiry — you can check by QID number or by vehicle plate number.
- The app lists any outstanding violations, the fine amount, and the date issued.
You don’t need to own the vehicle to check a plate — useful if you’re driving a rental or a family member’s car and want to confirm there’s nothing outstanding before returning it.
Paying a fine
Once a fine appears, you can pay it directly in the app by credit or debit card, 24 hours a day. There’s no need to visit a branch or use a separate payment portal — the whole process happens inside Metrash.
Black points
Qatar’s traffic system uses a black points model — certain violations add points to your driving record, and accumulating too many within a set period can lead to licence suspension. The Metrash app shows your current point total under the same Traffic Services section, so you can keep track before it becomes a problem rather than finding out at renewal time.
If a fine seems wrong
Disputing a fine isn’t something the app handles directly — that requires contacting the Traffic Department or visiting a service centre in person. The app is best treated as your checking and payment tool, not a dispute channel.
Fine amounts, point thresholds, and procedures are set by Qatar’s Ministry of Interior and can change — always treat the in-app figures as the source of truth over any third-party guide, including this one.
